Safety Fair at MetroCenter

There will be a free VIN (Vehicle ID Number) Etch event provided by Police along with safety inspections of baby car seats to insure they are properly installed at a Safety Fair in the MetroCenter parking lot near the Transit Center on Saturday, May 19th from 1-5 pm.  Drive your car over and the Police will etch your VIN on all the glass in your car, which is a great theft deterrent. The etching is very small and carefully done, but it discourages auto thieves who usually don’t want to go to the expense of replacing all the auto glass in the vehicle to keep it from being identified.  There will also be child fingerprinting available, as well as recruiters from the armed services with some special demonstrations. Don’t miss this opportunity to get all these services for free!

Getting SMARTer, Changes to Neighborhood Circulator
Councilman Gates has coordinated a meeting to discuss the SMART route and frequency and to brainstorm suggestions to boost ridership.  Anyone who rides the Circulator or is committed to its success should attend: Monday, May 21, 4:30 p.m. at the John C. Lincoln Cowden Center, 9202 N. 2nd Street.

Bulk Trash Has Time and Place

The City of Phoenix picks up bulk trash (materials that must NOT be placed in the garbage or recycling container such as furniture, large appliances and large amounts of vegetation) quarterly. It is a violation of City ordinance to place bulk trash out more than one week before the published collection start date. Sunnyslope falls into two areas:  area 9 includes homes east of 7th Ave. and area 10 covers residents west of 7th Ave.

Collection in area  9 is underway. It will conclude and collection in area 10 will begin May 7.

To report premature placement  or for more information, contact Public Works Customer Service at 602-262-7251.

For more information about where to place bulk trash, a map and 2012 schedule for collection areas, click here.
